Growth and Service Opportunities
Current job:
Assistant Vice President, Colorado Member Service
Previous Positions Held:
Assistant manager, Service Center Manager
How did you get into this industry?
I had been in the financial industry for a number of years in California and once my wife and I had a family, we were looking for a
better quality of life. We saw a job advertisement on the Colorado Credit Union League website; I applied for it and got the position.
We moved out to Colorado 3 years ago and my family and I are ecstatic with the move.
What kind of opportunities do you think there are for those wanting to get into this industry?
I believe the opportunities are endless! If you work hard and show initiative the advancement opportunities will come.
What do you see is a major benefit to working for a credit union?
There is a saying "There is a difference between doing things right and doing the right thing"
I believe credit unions will “do the right thing” for their members. When you do this the major benefit is you can go home
at the end of the day and know you made a positive difference in your member's life!
Do you think this is a place where your ideas count?
Definitely, we continually communicate with each other at all levels, "brainstorming" on how best we can better serve our
member and communities. It is very gratifying when you see an idea you were part of come to fruition.
Is your credit union involved with community service or literacy programs?
Most definitely, we are big advocates of giving back to the community, we commit substantial hours and funds to organizations
like Jr Achievement and Homes For Our Troops.
If you could only say one thing to someone interested in working for a credit union, what would it be?
GO FOR IT! The credit union movement is here to stay. You can be part of a GREAT profession making a difference in your
community while learning and advancing up the career ladder.
